Panchakarma - a recipe for better health
Ayurveda uses two main modalities in the treatment of disease-Shamana or palliative and Shodhana or purification therapy.
Panchakarma is purification therapy, which reverses the disease mechanism. Panchakarma or five actions are the therapeutic means of eliminating impurities from the body. It is a series of five therapies or steps that remove deep rooted stress, impurities and toxins from physiology while balancing the doshas - those energies or forces that governs all biological functions.
The miracle of human body is that it has a natural healing intelligence, which is capable of constantly rejuvenating it self. Regardless of our life style, profession, eating habits or geographical locations toxins are accumulating in our bodies. They build up over time leading to many chronic diseases. There is a simple elegance to the approach and effectiveness of Panchakarma.
Panchakarma therapy recognizes and uses the specific qualities of the patient's physiological make up to heal. It takes the advantage of naturally occurring cycles. Ayurveda aims to establish the ability to leave every aspect of life to it's fullest, in complete conscious to nature's infinite intelligence, a state often referred to as enlightenment.
Our Panchakarma program:
It is a week-long program, custom tailored to your current state of health, wellness and constitution. Personal attention is given to each client's specific needs.
Panchakarma therapy includes
1. Abhyanga (Traditional oil massage):
Herbal oil massage
performed by two trained
Ayurvedic specialists done
simultaneously with
synchronizing movements.
It helps to loosen the toxins,
lubricate and protect tissues
from damage.
2. Shirodhara:
This treatment drips warm
oil in steady stream on fore
head. It quiets both mind
and senses.
3. Nasya (Nasal oil drops):
It is an important step for remove toxins from nose and paranasal sinuses.
4. Swedana (Therapeutic steam):
Therapeutic application of heat to the body. It helps to open pours, reducing stiffness and pain.
5. Basti (Therapeutic purification & rejuvenation of colon):
These are nourishing oil and cleansing herbal tea enemas.
All above steps are repeated for six days with variations in treatment according to the need of client. By this way all deep-rooted toxins are brought to the gastro-intestinal tract. During this program, client is on a very special Ayurvedic meal, which is provided by the center.
Second phase is actually the main step in Panchakarma. During this phase all toxins are flushed out of the body.
The last step involves restoration of strong digestive enzymes and rejuvenation of tissues.
Ayurveda advises complete Panchakarma therapy at least once a year for healthy individuals.
